Social Media Strategy - JenniferVanGrove.com

I just bought a brand new Flip Video Cam and I’m already strangely addicted. Here’s my first video (I promise to zoom out in the future) where Matt and I discuss Jeremiah Owyang’s recent post on influence and trust.

Interesting video although might need to buy the steady-cam feature. Trust is key in any community and sometimes it doesn’t come from the company selling the product but the influencers.

Hey! A fellow San Diegoianian blogger!

Well, that was … dull of me.

Anyway, cool stuff. Nice. Good bloggy job.

@DJ Ksar I like to talk with my hands, which makes it difficult to capture video…I’m working on it though.

@John Shore thanks for the San Diego love.

@Jeremiah Owyang thanks, keep up the good work on your blog, it’s insightful and inspiring.

While bloggers may exert less influence than close family and friends their opinions are still more credible than corporate advertising. It’s easy to be skeptical of those “unpaid endorsements” on the shopping network but when bloggers exact the same unpaid endorsements they seem more credible.

Just because the bloggers opinion isn’t the deciding factor in a consumer purchase, doesn’t mean that we aren’t extremely influential. Readers take information ingested from blogs and compare it to the information they’re receiving from their family. It’s all part of the necessary criticism required to make an informed decision.
