Social Media Strategy - JenniferVanGrove.com

About

Meet Jenn:

Jennifer Van Grove

I’m a member of, and an advocate for, the community. I get community building because I understand the why and the how when it comes to social applications, I stay current with the latest internet memes, and I learn by doing.

I contribute as an Associate Editor to Mashable — a TIME.com Top 25 Best Blog, and the guide for all things social media. I also work independently as a consultant for companies interested in understanding how to engage with their communities in ways that make sense — developing and delivering strategies for meaningful interactions.

You can find me on most social media sites as jbruin, my username of choice. I’m a super user and early adopter, which is why I understand community building better than most. And in case you were wondering… “jbruin” is an amalgamation of Jenn (“j”) and my alma mater, UCLA (“bruin”). Go Bruins!

Brief Bio:

I’m a community-minded professional with demonstrated success in web strategy, online content development, performance metrics, and business development. My work experience includes writing for one of the most recognizable blogs on the Web, consulting for brands and startups, as well as community management and web strategy positions at a non-profit in Manchester, NH and a Market Research company in San Diego.

I’m currently working as a blogger, and community and social media consultant in sunny San Diego. For for more information, you can send an email to info [at] jennifervangrove [dot] com.

Still More…

I’m also staying busy as the Assistant Organizer for the San Diego Blogger Meetup, Promotions Director the Social Media Club San Diego, and the Organizer for the San Diego Tweetup. I’m one busy girl, but when you love what you do…

Current Projects:

Aside from Mashable, I’m currently working on each of the following…

Jenn 2.0

As the inspiration for the show about a web savvy 20-something living in San Diego, I can certainly identify with our heroine who focuses on the reinvention of herself into a media brand as she produces an online show, “Jenn2.0″. In the show, we watch through computer screen, webcam, and candid follows as Jenn struggles to find balance between her online personas and her ever-present reality.

As Associate Producer alongside Rob Lewis and Darren Elwood, Executive Producers, and our production company, NAS Productives, we’ve combined creative forces to create the pilot for our web series. The pilot is embedded here, but also showing on Strike.TV and Koldcast.TV. For more information on what the behind-the-scenes process of making a web series looks like, check out MakingJenn20.com.

Trapster

trapster-logo-miniThis New York Times and Wall Street Journal featured mobile application is a lifesaver for those of us who hate looking over our shoulders for cops while driving. With Trapster, mobile phone users – Trapster is available in Blackberry, Nokia, and iPhone app stores – can share the location of any type of police trap and get notified when they’re approaching speed traps on the road.

The recently funded startup is in the process of expanding operations, improving upon the application’s feature-set and user experience, and embracing social media to connect and grow the Trapster community.
