My dad, in case you weren’t already aware, is an incredibly interesting man who has taught me alot about life, but even more about Apple. Did you know that as a young child he used me as a guinea pig to test the original Mac ($2500 and 128k) because he wanted to write a piece of educational software? We chat about that, but we also talk about iPhones, Twitter, and some of the history behind the origins of the Apple brand (from his perspective as a software engineer at the time). If you can get past the shakiness of the video, you might really enjoy his perspective and learn a few things about why I love Apple products so much.

10. You already own an iPhone and you’re still waiting in line

9. You become instantly infatuated with the fanboy in front of you

8. You take a picture of the line with your v2 iPhone, email it to Brightkite, and wait anxiously for the comments of jealously to roll in

7. The line moves 2 inches in 2 hours and you’re still waiting

6. You take a not-so-secret pleasure in knowing what “Push” means

5. Free coffee and water seem like manna from heaven

4. You laugh at the normal people walking by who are laughing at you

3. The store crew runs around giving high fives and you cheer like a child at Disneyland

2. You get within inches of the door and your heart starts racing

1. You walk away thinking, “that was a once in a lifetime experience”

Hello iPhone Apps!

That’s definitely my sentiment as a new iPhone user. The trouble is that Apple offers so many different web applications that I’m not sure where to start. Plus, there are a plethora of sites dedicated to iPhone hacks and other applications, like Apple iPhone School, that it’s hard to know who to trust and what applications actually solve challenges versus just waste time.

I decided to start simple.

My first immediate need was to satisfy the Twitter fiend in me when my laptop is inaccessible. I did a little research and read up on a few different Twitter apps for the iPhone and found the following apps to be the most recognized and widely used:

iTweet

PocketTweets

Hahlo

Thincloud

This post by the creator of Hahlo is what convinced me to give it try and honestly I’ve loved it so much that I haven’t felt the need to try the others (accept Twitter Moblie, which of course is exactly like Twitter, great but limited).

The UI/UX of Hahlo is great. It’s nice to look at, the icons are the perfect size for fingers, the design is intuitive and there is literally no learning curve. Some of the added bonuses include a very quick load time, and the ability to reply @ someone, dm someone, and favorite a tweet simply by tapping on the appropriate icon available to the right of every tweet.

I’m pretty much in love with Hahlo at the moment. It’s definitely made my twitter following fast and fun. Of course it would be nice if there were ways to adjust settings (like refresh frequency) and if there were more tips available on the site, but overall I’m super impressed and looking forward to more updates.

First iPhone app down only a hundred million left to go!

Are there any iPhone applications that you love? Definitely leave me a comment and let me know what I am missing.
